     I Hope

"Congratulations”, I greeted them with my sweetest smile to show everyone that I am not affected at all. I mean, it’s been years. Everyone claps their hands as my best friend and her husband kiss in front of everybody. I tried to be happy like a normal supportive best friend but… that’s my man.

They look so happy together. It sores my eyes, it’s like pouring an alcohol to my wound that I am trying to heal for years. “Why did I come here?” I whispered to myself. I immediately regret my decision, being in a bar, lost and free is better than this. “Let us welcome Ms. Rivas! What is your message for our newlyweds?” I almost choke. I glance at the announcer, but she just smiled at me. I guess I have no choice. I drink the whole glass of champagne before holding the mic.

“Uh… Hi” Everyone laughed while the groom seems uneasy. I keep reminding myself to be nice, don’t ruin the wedding but there’s something heavy inside me that wants to be lifted. My hands trembled as I utter a word. “Congrats. You look good together. I hope you both feel the sparks by the end of the drive…”, tears started to roll at my cheeks, “I hope you know she's the one by the end of the night, I hope you never ever felt more free tell your friends that you're so happy”, he smiled and kiss her at the forehead. I wipe my tears and continued, “I hope she comes along and wrecks every one of your plans I hope she's wilder than your wildest dreams, she's everything you're ever gonna need” that’s it, he wants me to stop but I smiled, “And then I hope she cheats…… Like you did on me”
