Mend

How do I love a broken guy?

Softly like a whisper,

I lay my hands on his soul.

And find the places where he has been broken.

Then love him when these shattered parts

Become crevices and the crevices

Get smooth like a white scar,

That he scarcely remembers.

I feel sorry somebody poorly loved him

And made him believe he is wasting more space

Than he deserves.

It made him think that love is a horrible thing.

To the guy I love,

Show me the worst of your soul,

I'll show you how it shines like gold.

And I promise you, once you've got me

Who makes the fall sounds like flying,

You can never fall so hard again.
